Identification Parameters

Models must include parameters for indicating element identification codes specific to that project, in order to relate the cost structure with model elements.

These codes are crucial for identifying elements and accessing information; therefore, they should cover the cost structure not only during estimation and project phases but also during facility management (FM) and asset management phases.

This ensures a consistent understanding of the unique identification code across Bills of Quantities (BoQ), specification documents, and any form of drawing tagging. Examples of such codes are Omniclass, Uniclass, Masterformat, and other project-specific or country-specific codes.

Requirement: The chosen codification and the specific element identification parameter should be defined in the EIR according to project requirements.

When setting identification parameters, consider the following strategies:

Quality Check: Before proceeding with the quantification of the modeled elements, conducting thorough quality checks is crucial to ensure the accurate assignment of all codes and avoid quantification errors.
